Calcarea Sulphurica is a homeopathic remedy prepared from calcium sulfate (gypsum or plaster of Paris). This remedy has particular action on the skin and mucous membranes, and is especially valuable for suppurative conditions where discharge is thick, yellow, and lumpy. The key characteristic is a tendency toward suppuration (pus formation) with slow healing and formation of abscesses. Calcarea Sulphurica is indicated for the final stage of suppuration when thick, yellow discharge is being expelled - it helps complete the healing process. The remedy addresses acne, boils, and skin conditions that tend to suppurate and heal slowly. Wounds that are slow to heal, continue to discharge, or become infected respond well. The discharge from any mucous membrane - nose, ears, throat, or vagina - is characteristically thick, yellow, and lumpy, sometimes blood-streaked. Calcarea Sulphurica treats chronic catarrh with thick yellow discharge. The remedy is useful for conditions following acute inflammation when pus formation has occurred. Patients are often irritable, easily annoyed, and prefer open air. They feel worse in stuffy rooms and better from open air and cool applications. All symptoms typically worsen in heated rooms, from warmth, getting wet, standing, and in the evening, while improving from open air, cool applications, and uncovering. This 30C potency is the most commonly used potency for home treatment of acute conditions, providing balanced action and duration. Take 2-4 times daily or as needed.
