Borax is a homeopathic remedy prepared from sodium borate, a naturally occurring mineral compound. This remedy has particular action on mucous membranes and is characterized by extreme sensitivity to downward motion and sudden, sharp noises. The most distinctive feature is fear of downward motion - babies cry and cling when being laid down, patients become anxious when going downstairs or in descending elevators, and symptoms worsen from any downward movement. Borax is especially valuable for infants and children. The remedy addresses mouth conditions including canker sores (aphthous ulcers), thrush, and oral inflammation. The mouth feels hot with painful ulcers that bleed easily. White fungal patches appear in the mouth, particularly in infants. Borax is indicated for leucorrhea (vaginal discharge) that is copious, thick, white like egg white, and has a sensation of warm water flowing. The remedy treats eczema and skin conditions with unhealthy skin that suppurates easily. Patients are extremely sensitive to noise, especially sudden, sharp sounds that startle and frighten them. They're anxious, nervous, and easily frightened. Hair becomes tangled easily and is difficult to manage. Wounds heal poorly and tend to suppurate. All symptoms typically worsen from downward motion, sudden noises, smoking, cold weather, and before menstruation, while improving from evening and pressure. This 30C potency is the most commonly used potency for home treatment of acute conditions, providing balanced action and duration. Take 2-4 times daily or as needed.
