Berberis Vulgaris is a homeopathic remedy prepared from the barberry shrub (Berberis vulgaris), particularly its root bark. The remedy is excellent for kidney stones, renal colic, and biliary colic where pain radiates from the kidney or gallbladder region. Sharp, stitching pains extend down the ureters into the bladder and thighs. Berberis is valuable for urinary tract conditions including cystitis, urethritis, and kidney inflammation. Urine may contain sediment, mucus, or appear turbid with brick-red deposit. The remedy addresses liver and gallbladder complaints with radiating pains under the right ribs. It's useful for gouty and rheumatic conditions with shifting, radiating joint pains. Lumbago and lower back pain with characteristic radiating quality respond well.
